The Origin of Elevation

Ilam Nepal Himalayan tea mountains covered in mist at dawn

FIELD REPORT NO. 001

Tracing the Lineage of the World’s Highest Tea Gardens

I

In the world of luxury tea, geography is destiny. While many are familiar with the sprawling estates of the lowlands, The Great Himalayan Tea Atelier begins where the oxygen begins to thin.

A Legacy Reborn

The story of Nepal’s tea origin is one of resilience. While the first seeds were planted in the mid-19th century—gifted by Chinese emperors—the true “Golden Age” of Himalayan tea is happening now. By focusing on Single Estate purity, we allow the specific geological history of the Nepal Himalayas to speak through the leaf.

The Geological Signature

The Himalayan range is the youngest on Earth. The soil is mineral-rich and stony. At these altitudes, growth happens at a glacial pace, allowing the plant to develop a complex profile lowland teas cannot replicate.

Guardians of the 3,000m Line

Under our Covenant Model, farmers are the Guardians. They interpret the mountain’s temperament—knowing exactly when the sun provides the perfect energy for the vernal flush.
