FIELD REPORT NO. 007
An Exploration of the Darker Mountain Notes
W
While the world often treats black tea as a functional wake-up call, The Great Himalayan Tea Atelier views it as the most complex expression of our craft. Our Black Tea Collection is defined by a “shadowed sweetness”—a result of deep oxidation occurring in the thin, cold air of the peaks.
The Craft of Controlled Transformation
- The Cold-Wither: Leaves are spread slowly to preserve structural integrity.
- The Roll: Master artisans gently bruise the leaf to release essential oils.
- The Oxidation: The “Breath of the Mountain” reaction from green to resonant black.
Shadows & Sunlight
High-altitude black teas lack tannic harshness. Because the L-theanine levels are so high, the texture is silky. It possesses the structure of a fine Red Wine—meant for meditative silence.
The Sensory Profile
AROMA: Sun-warmed earth & dark berries.
PALATE: Dark chocolate, malt, & stone-fruit.
FINISH: Crisp mineral aftertaste.
